The Power of YET
After having the day off yesterday, today might as well be a Monday! Don't catch a case of the Mondays! Watch the groovy, easy to dance to Power of Yet video from the cast and crew of Sesame Street below. This is a great way to get your class going and start the week off right. You can show it again and again, and do a variety of tasks each time which might include:
- Ask students to share with an elbow partner something they feel they're not good at. Then show the video below. After watching the video, have them turn to the same elbow partner and say the same statement and add the word YET!
- Have students watch the video, and then share something they feel like they can't do academically... and add the word YET.
- As a teacher, share your own stories and insecurities, what are you self-conscious of? Share this with your class and then add YET. Start to model examples of goals and baby steps to help you get there.
- Have students set a goal of something they can't do YET, and write down at least one thing they will try to do to get there. Action steps are important!
