Social Studies
This Fun Feature Friday is brought to you by the letter S... for Social Studies.
Across the last few weeks I have been welcomed into at least a dozen teachers' classrooms that are of the social studies persuasion, and I have seen some amazing things. Most importantly, I've walked into classrooms that are filled with learning, and great relationships among students and between the teacher and their students! #blessed
These kids and teachers have got it going on with some of the following:
- Walls!
- Walls filled with the work of students, and the world of social studies! You walk in and are immediately immersed in the disciplines of social studies.
- Technology galore!
- From Google Classroom, to Active Classroom, to Class Dojo, to Schoology and lots of Google Docs allowing students to collaborate.
- Teamwork!
- Rooms filled with Investigative Teams delving deep into primary and secondary sources. Teams taking notes and sharing their research on a Team Meeting Google Doc. Team Roles in which students are taking responsibility for helping their classmates, and themselves.
- Organization!
- From clear expectations and objectives on the board, to rubrics, to teachers sharing their look fors, and even helping students make to-do lists and track their grades! These are the "untaught" skills that teachers are helping unlock for our students, setting them up for success!
