Moments of Gratitutde
This fun feature friday brought to you by the inspiration of my fellow educators and modeled off of Craig McKinney's Wednesday WICOR Email of the week on Thanks ([email protected]). This ought to help you get in the Thanksgiving mindset. Try it yourself, share it with your students, have students share their own. The following "I am thankful for..." statements come in no particular order, and if you try to make sense of it, you will get lost.
Give your students the opportunity to say thank you to someone else, make a card, send an email or a text!
- I am thankful for...teachers that stay positive, student-focused, and solution-oriented. You make the work worth it, and rewarding. You inspire me to keep going and keep pushing because there are teachers out there that are working toward implementing change and supporting our students.
- I am thankful for...the encouragement, support, and acknowledgement from colleagues.
- I am thankful for...the students that shout my name down the halls of buildings that make me feel like a celebrity.
- I am thankful for...teachers who are brave enough to try something new.
- I am thankful for...colleagues that challenge my thinking and push me.
- I am thankful for...the critical dialogue around culture, race, and economics that is happening among teachers, students, families, and a combination of all of the above.
- I am thankful for...the opportunity to fail, learn from my mistakes, and try again!
- I am thankful for...teachers who listen to their students, to what they say, and to what they do not say.
- I am thankful for...time to reflect with colleagues.
- I am thankful for...the opportunity to provide teachers feedback ad empower them in their classrooms.
- I am thankful for...AVID, and what it has done to bring teachers and students together to create a safe place that they call home in the AVID elective classroom.
- I am thankful for...all of the people who read all of my emails, remind text messages, blog entries and more.
- I am thankful for...the team I have the opportunity to not only work with, but also growth, laugh, and brainstorm with.
- I am thankful for...kind smiles in passing, and the hugs of friends.
- I am thankful for...my surroundings. It is powerful to see the passion for students around me including counselors, secretaries, administrators, custodians, teachers, and parents.
- I am thankful for...my knowledge of growth mindset that continues to push and motivate me.
- I am thankful for...friends and family, especially the furry ones, and the sarcastic ones.
- I am thankful for...honest, tough conversations that have allowed me to see the humanity and heart in those around me.
- I am thankful for...the relationships I still have with past students, and how they continue to surprise and support me.
- I am thankful for...students. For each and every one I have had the honor of interacting with. You have each taught me something about myself, and about humanity.
