Levels of Thinking
Would you like to encourage your students to develop their questioning skills? Would you like to remind yourself of some open-ended questions that you can have as "pocket" or on the spot questions in your classroom when you are circulating around while students are working?
You can encourage students to use these key words and question starters during discussion in your classroom, or as a teacher you can use these to help you analyze the depth of knowledge of the questions on tests, quizzes, or exit slips.
The resources below reference both Costa's three levels of thinking, and Bloom's six levels of thinking with great examples for science, social studies, english, and math content areas. Keep reading for more resources below!

Resources
I cannot claim all the fame for the resources below, I am merely re-sharing things that I have found across time that have been made and compiled by others. Enjoy!
The Levels of Thinking Sort below is designed so that the first three pages are double sided with the corresponding pages 4, 5, and 6. After these are printed, double-sided, and cut out, then you mix them all up. Directions are on the last page of the document below. This is something we have used as a game in class and at family nights.

I used the question starters below and made them much bigger, cut them up, and put them on a bulletin board in my classroom in order to have examples for students and myself.
Levels of Thinking (Subject Area Examples) |
This is a great all-in-one resource with key words for each level, and examples. If you have a poster-maker in your building, or want to go to your local Staples or OfficeMax/Depot you can get these blown up for your classroom!
