Blended Learning
Technology is more than just a quick fix. I have recently heard many teachers express their lack of interest in using technology in the classroom because then their students just put in headphones, and check out while plugging away at their somewhat mindless work on the screen. Using a device should not mean, and does not have to mean taking away conversation, dialogue, and all the things you know engage students within the classroom. Check out this article from ASCD on The Basics of Blended Learning which includes information on the following tips:
- Think big, but start small.
- Patience is a virtue when trying something new.
- Technology shouldn't be just a frill.
- Weaving media together makes them stronger.
- Students need to know where they can get online.
