Privilege Walk
This activity has unquestionable power to build community and relationships, to foster an environment that respects and acknowledges our diversity, opening up the lines of communication. Will you pick up?
After seeing and experiencing several Privilege Walks in a variety of groups and situations, I encourage you to try this out with staff first, and then consider how to use this with your students. Most importantly of all, you have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
I say to do this with staff so that you yourself experience it and know how it feels. I will say that participating in a privilege walk taught me several lessons and offered many reminders which include:

- Although I often felt alone in many obstacles and experiences in my life, I am not alone.
- Although others do have more privilege than me, it is not their fault nor a reason to hate them or be angry.
- Although I experienced a variety of struggles in my life, and so did others, we can all overcome.
